Ngenic Energi has released new figures from an energy company in western Sweden has clearly demonstrated the difference Ngenic Tune can make for Swedish homeowners. In a random sample of 9 homes analyzed, energy consumption for heating has decreased by an average of over 15 percent. This corresponds to just under 2 000 kWh per household per year, while indoor comfort has improved.
The study compared energy consumption one year before and one year after the installation of Ngenic Tune. To ensure a weather-independent comparison, degree-day-adjusted measurement data were used. The largest individual savings in the study amounted to 21 percent.
The savings amount to an average of just under 2,000 kWh of district heating per year. This results in an annual cost savings of about 2,200 kronor per single-family home, based on the average price of 1,100 kr/MWh from the Nils Holgersson Report 2024.
It’s not just about money. Reduced energy consumption also means lower greenhouse gas emissions. On average, district heating in Sweden emits 53.5 g CO₂/kWh which, for 9 average single-family homes, corresponds to a carbon dioxide reduction of just under 1 metric ton of CO₂ per year—a win for both your wallet and the planet. For Sweden’s total stock of single-family homes with district heating, this amounts to 34,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions that could be avoided each year.
Given that heating and hot water account for about 75 percent of energy consumption in Swedish single-family homes (source: Vattenfall), improving energy efficiency is one of the most effective steps households can take to reduce both their carbon footprint and their costs.
With Ngenic Tune, customers can also keep track of their heating and enjoy a consistent and comfortable indoor climate all year round.
